SigmaTel announced a new digital photo frame reference design based on its STDC7150 image processor system-on-a-chip. These reference designs are designed to give customers the advantage of lowering material costs and bringing products to market faster, enabling them to pre-empt in the fast-growing digital photo frame market. Digital photo frames have become an innovative category of consumer products for home and office, displaying millions of images taken daily by digital cameras and camera phones.
The SigmaTel STDC7150 reference design supports 5 â€“ 12-inch LCD displays in different sizes, and retailers can eventually sell digital photo frames for less than $100. The STDC7150 combines a high-performance hardware image processor with an advanced 32-bit RISC processor to support powerful digital processing and general system functions such as networking. In addition, in terms of system scalability, the STDC7150's USB2.0 high-speed host interface can connect multiple peripherals to provide an upgrade for system functions such as WiFi and Bluetooth.
